Primary and Nurture Trip!
Our end-of-year trip was a fantastic success, packed full of smiles, excitement, and adventure! We took 50 Nurture and Primary students to Mote Park, where they explored the adventure playground, zoomed down the zipwire, and showed off some impressive climbing skills. A relaxed outdoor picnic followed – a highlight for many who loved eating in the sunshine with their friends.
In the afternoon, we headed to Maidstone Leisure Centre, where children enjoyed either the Amazon Adventure or had a splash in the fun pool. From start to finish, the day was filled with laughter, joy, and energy – so much so that a few children even fell asleep on the short journey back to school!
A huge thank you to our brilliant coach drivers for their kindness and patience, and an even bigger thank you to the incredible Serenity Team for making the day so special. Your hard work and care gave our students a truly memorable experience – the smiles on their faces said it all!
Reading Room
This year, we’ve created a bright, vibrant, and welcoming reading room for our students – a cosy space where a love of books and stories can truly flourish.
But once the room was ready, we faced one important challenge: filling the shelves! That’s where the incredible Ezzie Pavey from St. Faith’s Church stepped in.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ezzie for her dedication and hard work in organising a fantastic book donation scheme for Serenity Maidstone. Thanks to her efforts, we were overwhelmed with donations – the books just kept coming!
From beautiful picture books to engaging novels for older readers, the collection spans all ages and genres, creating a truly inclusive and exciting library for our young people.
Well done, Ezzie – your generosity has made a whole school of young readers very happy!

Spelling Bee
Celebrating Success: Debate on Social Media and Spelling Bee Achievements
We are excited to share highlights from two fantastic recent events at Serenity School: On the 26th June, our school community came together at Serenity School Maidstone for a spirited debate on a topic that affects us all: The impact of social media on behaviour. Four enthusiastic Serenity School teams – Maidstone, Eltham, Coulsdon, and Crawley – took to the stage to share their views, research, and personal experiences. Each team impressed us with thoughtful arguments, respectful listening, and creative presentations. The students explored both the positive and negative effects of social media, considering how it can influence friendships, learning, and wellbeing.
Special Mentions We would like to give a special shout-out to one exceptional student from each team:
- Maidstone: Austin confidently opened is team’s case, sharing real-life examples and engaging the audience with his clear explanations.
- Eltham: Max stood out for his ability to summarise complex ideas and answer questions from the judges with poise.
- Coulsdon: Nicholas brought the debate to life with his confident and expressive delivery and persuasive arguments.
- Crawley: Jo impressed everyone with his teamwork and thoughtful reflections during the Q&A session.
And the Winner Is…After a very close contest, our judges named Eltham as the winning team! Congratulations to Eltham and to all our debaters for their hard work and respectful collaboration. We are proud of everyone who took part. Events like these help our pupils develop important skills, such as communication, critical thinking, and empathy. Thank you to all staff and students who supported and attended the debate. We look forward to more discussions that challenge us to think and grow together.
Spelling Bee Success The Spelling Bee was a buzzing success, with pupils from all four teams competing in a friendly yet challenging contest. The atmosphere was electric as each contestant tackled tricky words with determination and focus.
Special Mentions:
- Maidstone: Kiya impressed with her calm under pressure.
- Eltham: Paige showed fantastic dedication and enthusiasm.
- Coulsdon: Will amazed everyone with his spelling accuracy and speed.
- Crawley: Claudia stood out for her positive attitude and perseverance
Congratulations to Coulsdon, who took home the Spelling Bee medals, for the second time! Their dedication to supporting each other made all the difference.
Thank You
Thank you to all pupils and staff who participated, supported, and celebrated these events. We are so proud of everyone’s achievements and look forward to more opportunities for learning and teamwork.

World Book Day 2025!
We had a fabulous time celebrating World Book Day with a variety of exciting activities!
This included joining the Reading Eggs team online, where we were introduced to Reggie, the mascot character for the “Reading Eggs” program and listened to stories for independent and early readers. This was a fantastic way to kick off our celebration and get inspired by different books!
After that, we got creative by designing our own book characters, inspired by stories we’ve read both in school and at home. We also completed independent reading tasks on Reading Eggs, helping us develop our reading skills in a fun and interactive way.
Later, Mrs. Tucker read us a wonderful book titled Bartholomew and the Bug—what an interesting and engaging read! To end our day, we designed our very own reading rulers, which we’ll be using in class to help us focus while reading.
We had book donations for our new “Reading Room” from our pupils and families, bookmarks were created and a new book token design also! Please enjoy our photos of some of the pupils. A lovely day filled with books, creativity and a love for reading!
Holmes New Home!
After half term, Holmes will have transitioned into their lovely new classroom which includes all round chalk board on the wall to encourage creativity and emergent writing. There is also a sensory and life skills corner with different textures to support sensory needs as well as an opportunity for students to learn to tie their shoelaces, zip and unzip and buckle and unbuckle.
Also in the room you can find a home and shopping corner to support development of life skills, sensory play equipment, additional resources to enhance the curriculum, musical instruments and a construction train set. All of which will encourage exploratory play to develop the use of language, inquisitively, awe and wonder!

Darwin (Key Stage 2 – Semi-Formal)
Dear Parents and Carers, A Magical Half-Term Adventure! As we wrap up this exciting half term, we would like to share some of the amazing experiences and learning adventures your children have enjoyed. The Lost and Found Adventure (Literacy) Our story began with Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. We met a lonely penguin and a brave little boy who taught us about friendship, bravery, and overcoming loneliness. Together, we sailed across icy oceans and visited the South Pole, where penguins waddled and played. But the adventure didn’t stop there!

We linked our adventure to Geography, where we learnt why it stays frozen in the Arctic and how climate change is affecting this unique environment. We discovered how the ice is melting and how this impacts animals like polar bears and narwhals and more also our own home here in the UK. A fascinating start to our mini-project on Arctic Animals.
As part of this project, the children turned into researchers and presenters for a special Show and Tell session. Each child explored how climate change affects Arctic animals, from polar bears struggling to find ice for hunting to narwhals navigating changing waters. It was amazing to see their hard work come to life as they proudly showcased their findings to the class. Their presentations were filled with facts, drawings, and a sense of wonder—it was a moment of learning, teamwork, and confidence.
Secret Science Detectives
Next, we put on our detective hats and became science investigators! We discovered why matter has different forms—solids, liquids, and gases— and how temperature changes everything. Ice melted, water boiled, and the classroom buzzed with excitement as we conducted experiments like real scientists. Our detective work even helped us understand why the Arctic stays frozen (for now!) and how we can take care of our beautiful planet.
The Land of Numbers (Numeracy) …. From there, we journeyed to the magical Land of Multiplication, Division, Measurement, and Decimals. With our imaginations soaring, we guessed the measurements of the school, the classroom, and even some everyday objects. Numbers turned into puzzles, and decimals became “floating numbers” that made us giggle as we solved sums.Whether adding “big numbers” or conquering tricky challenges, the children proved they were true Number Explorers!
Creative Adventures in DT
Creativity bloomed in the land of Art and DT! Armed with brushes and colourful paints, the children created beautiful masterpieces that brightened our classroom. In DT, they explored magical mechanisms like levers, sliders, and wheels to create moving parts for traditional tales like Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood. Their creativity knew no bounds!
The Great Swimming Escape!! … Every Friday, the children packed their swimming kits and raced off to the pool. Like little fish, they splashed, swam, and laughed, always reluctant to leave the water when time was up. Fridays quickly became the highlight of the week, and what an amazing job they all did in improving their swimming skills!
Blossoming Friendship
As the children worked, played, and learned together, something beautiful began to happen: friendships blossomed. New bonds were formed, laughter filled the room, and teamwork became the heart of our classroom.
Whether helping each other solve a tricky problem, cheering on a friend in swimming, or sharing ideas in Art and DT, the children showed kindness, support, and a growing sense of community.
A Festive Finale …. As our journey drew to a close, we celebrated with a sprinkle of festive magic. The children decorated the Christmas tree in the atrium, transforming it into a twinkling masterpiece. They also got creative making colourful Christmas cards to spread joy and cheer. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and holiday spirit—what a wonderful way to end the term!
And so… Our half-term story may be ending, but the memories we’ve made will last a lifetime. Thank you, parents and carers, for being part of our adventure. Your support has made this journey truly special.
From all of us here, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Here’s to more magical adventures next term.
Warm wishes,
Ms Esther Ikwuagwu (Class Teacher)
