Welcome from the Headteacher

A very warm welcome to Serenity School Maidstone.

I feel extremely proud and privileged to be the Headteacher of our exceptional school, which is located in the heart of Maidstone.

My vision is that together, we offer every pupil a school within which they feel that they belong and with an understanding of the diverse range of pupils and their needs, that our school community has a culture which is welcoming, instils positive relationships, kindness and high expectations, so that every pupil may maximise their individual potential and celebrate their independence, happiness and be prepared for life beyond school and into adulthood.

Serenity School Maidstone is a mixed specialist day school, which provides a high-quality education for up to 150 pupils aged 5-18 years, with an Education, Health and Care Plan and a diagnosis of autism and wider SEND.  Our approach is therapeutic, holistic and pupil-centred. We offer our pupils, a broad and balanced curriculum and a school where safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils is at the forefront of all actions.

Our caring community offers the best possible support and outcomes for all of our pupils, supported by a dedicated and experienced team, in beautiful surroundings, with facilities which cater well for our pupils’ individual needs, through a shared passion of our school’s vision and values of inclusion, independence and self-worth. I am passionate about ensuring a commitment to our school’s core values by all in our community wherein all aspects of school life. We take care of:

Ourselves. Each other. Our learning. Our school. Our Community. Our future

We offer pupils an inclusive education, opportunities, prospects and success through:

  • A rich curriculum offers breadth and depth, which is well planned and matched to pupils’ needs, through our learning pathways.
  • Recognised accreditations, which serve as currency to support the next steps, for education and training (formal and semi-formal pathways).
  • A curriculum for life which supports pupils in gaining a greater understanding of the world around them.
  • Developing personal well-being and emotions, independence and social, soft and life skills, in order to prepare our pupils within their local communities and employment.
  • Opportunities inside and outside of school, contribute to achieving their goals and developing character, resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Driving a culture of kindness, respect, understanding of individual needs and a curiosity for learning in all aspects of school life.
  • Access to a team of professionals in line with Education Health and Care Plans, such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Pastoral teams.
  • A committed staff team who ensures that pupils at our school receive the very best teaching, exciting learning opportunities and the knowledge, and skills to develop.
  • Our school-wide appreciation and support of family dynamics and community push and pull factors, with an uncompromising belief that all children, regardless of their experiences and backgrounds, have the right to reach their full potential.

Parents and carers, I believe that you play a vital role in the education of your children and I actively encourage strong partnerships between home and school, as well as with professionals and our local community, so that together we may make your child’s time at Serenity School Maidstone both happy and successful.
